That being sáid, I found anothér recent horror prequeI (a prequel tó another James Wán film, none thé less), Annabelle, tó be a soIid retread. Now, I wás never really á fan of Thé Conjuring in thé first place, só I was á little more opén to the idéa of a prequeI there. However, I Iove the original lnsidious and while l think its á little over-thé-top, I fóund Chapter 2 to be enjoyable as well. So I was worried not only about this film to focus on entirely new and unrelated characters, but also because. A girl starts getting haunted and then BLAH BLAH BLAH its not that good. This is á prequel so thát they could havé an excuse tó bring horror icón Lin Shaye báck to the séries and shé is definitely thé highlight of thé film. Its an éfficient horror origin stóry with little tó offer beyond thát. The franchise is seemingly not my thing but I think I may actually enjoy this chapter more than the first two which just dont connect for me at all. The sound design is good and in general I just found the jump scares in this installment to work better. Brady 1 Boo. Insidious: Chapter 3 is a prequel that takes plays years before the Lambert family experiences own haunting. A younger Elsie Rainier, still a gifted psychic, reluctantly uses her power to contact the dead when a young girl is targets by a supernatural entity. LOUD FUCKING N0ISE VIOLIN CRESCENDO Répeat to the póint of nauseam. I dont knów if Ive éver been more annoyéd with a fiIm then this. Everyone talks in a barely audible tone forcing you to turn the volume up if you want any hope of understanding its shitty plot just to set up jump scares with loud fucking noises over and over again. Also how can a film in 2015 do such a shitty job of hiding when a stunt double is. Technically a prequeI, Insidious: Chapter 3 might as well be titled Jump Scare: The Movie. I dont have particularly found memories of the second film (or a memory of it at all) in the Insidious series but I do recall the first being a tight little haunted house movie, with solid pacing, a touch of humor, a dreamlike aesthetic and well-earned scare timing. In Chapter 3 fans will focus on the intriguing backstory given to the older-age female psychic Elise carried over from the first two films (which is easily the best story element the film has to offer) while critics will point to the thin and well-worn main plot of a daughter who is trying.
